Saphia Azzeddine

Saphia Azzeddine è nata ad Agadir nel 1979. Passa l’infanzia in Marocco fino all’età di nove anni, quando si trasferisce con la famiglia in Francia, a Ferney-Voltaire. Dopo la laurea in sociologia, si dedica prima al giornalismo, poi alla scrittura. Esordisce nel 2008 con l’acclamato romanzo “Confidences à Allah”, adattato a teatro (2009) e in fumetto (2015). Il successo le permette di continuare la carriera di scrittrice, a cui affianca esperienze di attrice (“L’Italien”, 2010) e regista. Nel 2011 ha adattato per il grande schermo il suo secondo romanzo, “Mon père est femme de ménage” (2009). Ha oggi all’attivo sei romanzi, incentrati sulla questione dell’identità femminile, tema affrontato con un’ironia graffiante che si tinge a tratti di poesia.

Son premier roman, “Confidences à Allah” (2008), est un succès adapté au théâtre (2009) et en bande dessinée (2015). Cela lui permet de poursuivre sa carrière d’écrivain, à laquelle viennent s’ajouter des expériences d’actrice (“L’Italien”, 2010) et de réalisatrice ; le film “Mon père est femme de ménage” (2011) est le fruit de l’adaptation de son deuxième roman. Elle a à son actif six romans, qui tournent autour de la question de l’identité féminine, un thème qu’elle aborde avec une ironie grinçante teintée de poésie.

Saphia Azzeddine is born in Agadir in 1979. She grew up in Morocco, before her family moved to France when she was 9 years old. After graduating in sociology, she devoted herself to journalism, then to writing. Her first novel, “Confidences à Allah” (2008), is a success adapted for the stage (2009) and for comics (2015). This success allows her to continue her career as a writer; in addition, she works as an actress (“L’Italien”, 2010) and as a director: “Mon père est femme de ménage” (2011) is a film adaptation of her second novel. She is the author of six novels focused on the question of feminine identity, a subject that she addresses with irony tinged with poetry.
