Barbara Benini

Barbara Benini (Ferrara, 10/10/1969) è attualmente responsabile della sezione culturale del Comitato Provinciale di Ferrara dell’Associazione Italiana Cultura Sport (A.I.C.S.), dove sin dal 2011 si occupa come volontaria dei progetti legati all’intercultura e gli adolescenti. Precedentemente ha insegnato l’italiano come lingua straniera al Cairo, in Egitto, dove ha abitato per dieci anni dedicandosi, al contempo, a coltivare la sua grande passione scoprire i talenti emergenti nel campo della letteratura araba. Grazie agli anni trascorsi a contatto con la giovane intellighenzia egiziana, si è sviluppato in lei un gusto particolare per la letteratura “fuori dagli schemi”, che si riflette anche nelle opere da lei sinora tradotte.

Barbara Benini (Ferrara, Italy, 10/10/1969) is currently the head of the Cultural Section of Ferrara’s branch of the Italian Association for Culture and Sport, where, since 2011, she has been working on intercultural projects focusing on teenagers. Before that she spent ten years in Cairo (Egypt) teaching Italian as a foreign language and in the meanwhile focusing on her passion: discovering emerging Arab voices in the literary field. Thanks to her years in deep contact with the Egyptian young intellighenzia she developed a taste for a kind of literature “out of the main stream”, which does reflects too on the works she translated up to know.

Stefano Musilli

Stefano Musilli (Roma, 1987) è laureato in interpretazione di conferenza all’Università di Trieste e specializzato in traduzione di testi postcoloniali all’Università di Pisa. Ha insegnato Lingua e Cultura italiana all’Università di Città del Capo e ha tenuto workshop di traduzione alle università di Padova e di Trieste. Traduce narrativa e saggistica dal neerlandese e dall’inglese.

Federica Pistono

Federica Pistono è laureata in Giurisprudenza e in Lingua e Letteratura araba. Ha approfondito lo studio della lingua araba a San’a, al Cairo e soprattutto a Damasco, dove ha soggiornato a lungo. I suoi interessi ruotano intorno alla letteratura araba contemporanea, in particolare alla narrativa siriana, e al romanzo arabo francofono. Traduttrice letteraria, ha tradotto diversi romanzi dall’arabo. Traduttrice editoriale, da alcuni anni traduce articoli dall’arabo per giornali e testate online. È attualmente impegnata in un Dottorato di ricerca in Civiltà islamica presso l’ Università La Sapienza di Roma.

Federica Pistono is currently doing her PhD in Islamic civilisation at the La Sapienza University in Rome. As a literary translator from Arabic and French into Italian, since 2010 she has been focusing on different Arab voices – writers such as Ghassan Kanafani, Zakariyya Tamer, Bahaa Taher, Fadi Azzam, Inaam Kachachi, Mustafa Khalifa, Muhsin Al-Ramli, Nihad Sirees, Badriyya al-Bishr – with the aim of spreading the beauty of contemporary Arabic literature among the Italian readers as much as she can, this is why since 2012, she runs her own blog about contemporary Arabic literature. Since 2013 she is part of the editorial stuff of “Diwan” Book Series, published by Castelvecchi Pub., besides her work as a translator and editor, for the online newspaper Infopal, which deals with information about Palestine and the Middle East.

Federica Pistono travaille comme traductrice littéraire et elle a contribué à faire connaitre en Italie plusieurs écrivains arabes, parmi lesquels Ghassan Kanafani, Zakaryya Tamer, Fadi ‘Azzam, Inaam Kachachi, Baha Taher, Muhsin Al-Ramli, Moustapha Khalifa, Nihad Sirees, Badriya al-Bishr et Muhammad Dibo. Elle travaille aussi comme traductrice pour les journaux en ligne. Elle entreprend actuellement un doctorat dans la Civilisation islamique à l’ Université La Sapienza à Rome.

Barbara Teresi

Barbara Teresi è laureata in Lingue e Letterature Straniere (Arabo e Tedesco). Tra il 2005 e il 2011 ha vissuto in Egitto, al Cairo, dove ha seguito diversi corsi di lingua e letteratura araba e lavorato come mediatore linguistico e traduttore presso il Consolato d’Italia al Cairo (dal 2006 al 2008) e come docente di lingua italiana per stranieri presso l’Istituto Italiano di Cultura (dal 2008 al 2011). Dal 2009 collabora con diverse case editrici italiane come traduttrice letteraria freelance. È un’appassionata di letteratura irachena contemporanea.

Barbara Teresi is a freelance literary translator. She has a master degree in Modern Languages (Arabic and German). She spent six years in Cairo, Egypt, where she attended several courses of Arabic language and literature and worked as a cultural and linguistic mediator and translator at the Italian Consulate in Cairo (2006-2008) and as a teacher of Italian as foreign language at the Italian Cultural Institute (2008-2011). In 2009 she started her activity as a freelance translator for several Italian Publishing Houses. She loves contemporary Iraqi literature.

Barbara Teresi ist eine freie literarische Übersetzerin. Sie studierte Arabistik und Germanistik. Von 2005 bis 2011 sie lebte in Kairo, Ägypten. Dort besuchte sie verschiedene Kurse in Arabischer Sprache und Literatur und arbeitet als Sprach- und Kulturmittlerin und Übersetzerin in der Italienischen Konsulat in Kairo (von 2006 bis 2008) und als Lehrerin für Italienisch als Fremdsprache in dem Italienischen Kulturinstitut in Kairo (von 2008 bis 2011). Ilaria Vitali

Ilaria Vitali (1979) è dottore di ricerca in Letteratura Francese e Comparata presso l’Université Paris-Sorbonne e presso l’Università di Bologna, dov’è attualmente Assegnista di ricerca. Specialista di letteratura francese contemporanea, ha pubblicato numerosi studi sulle scritture migranti e di seconda generazione, l’esotismo letterario, le riscritture postcoloniali dei classici ed è stata invitata come relatore a convegni internazionali in Francia, Italia, Spagna, Grecia, Svizzera, Marocco, Canada e Stati Uniti. È membro della redazione delle riviste Francofonia (Università di Bologna) e Il tolomeo (Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia). Dal 2007 lavora come traduttrice editoriale, con particolare attenzione alla narrativa migrante e postcoloniale. È autrice di due romanzi: A tua completa traduzione (2011) e La casa ai confini del tempo (2012; Marchio Microeditoria di Qualità 2013).

Ilaria Vitali (1979) holds a PhD in French and Comparative Literature from the Université Paris-Sorbonne and the University of Bologna, where she is currently a Research Fellow. Specialist of contemporary French and Francophone literature and a literary translator from French to Italian, she has published volumes and several articles on migrant and second-generation writings, literary exoticism, postcolonial rewriting of “classics”, and has presented papers at international conferences in France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Switzerland, Morocco, Canada, and the United States. She is member of the editorial board of journals Francofonia (Bologna University) and Il Tolomeo (Ca’ Foscari University of Venice). Besides academic researches, she has been working as a literary translator (French to Italian) since 2007. She is the author of two novels: A tua completa traduzione (2011) e La casa ai confini del tempo (2012; Microeditoria di Qualità Prize 2013).
